It all began on a snowy winter night in Barrie, Ontario — because nothing says romance like frostbite and awkward small talk. After months of charming each other online with memes and questionable emojis, Kristen and Andrew finally met in person for their first date.

They were so caught up in each other’s stories (and possibly trying to impress with witty banter) that they barely touched their food — a real tragedy, considering how good it smelled. Hours flew by, and it wasn’t until the very patient waitress gently pointed out that the restaurant had been closed for an hour that they realized they might be onto something.

Not ready to say goodbye, they took the party to the parking lot (the real VIP lounge), where they braved the Canadian cold to keep the conversation — and sparks — going.
